Autumn Uniform

Sunday, 25 May 2014

Jumper, Bag and Sunglasses: Sportsgirl// Shorts: American Apparel// Grey Tee: Cotton On// Shoes: Windsor Smith

001. Jumpers on the top and shorts on the bottom... basically the Autumn uniform in my end of Australia. Currently the weather is sitting on an average 25 degrees, so there's no need to bring out any winter woolies yet (or maybe ever). This outfit was just something I threw on as I rushed out the house the other day. It's really simple, but I'm actually quite happy that wardrobe is growing into more of a monochrome/neutral treasure chest because I think I've finally discovered it's my niche.

002. Recently I took the tassels off my over-blogged Windsor Smith Chunk shoes. I've had these shoes for a year and a half, and I swear now almost everyone and their dog has a pair. I think taking the tassels off give them a minimal vibe, which is more up my alley at the moment. Luckily, they are actually so versatile that you can easily just re-thread the tassels on (totally went off on a tangent there but if you have these shoes it's just a tip).

Inspo and Thoughts

Thursday, 22 May 2014

001. Happy Thursday, here's an inspo post to help you get through the week! These are just some funky things I've come across lately on my tumblr musings. I'm currently drowning in assignments for almost every subject; it's safe to say Year 12 is not fun. I actually love the concept of learning, I just do not enjoy assignments and exams. I wish school was more about just learning, instead of having your future determined by examination results and how well you can memorise certain information; you get what I mean?

Style Stalking

all photos via Tumblr

001. Street style is one of my favourite things about fashion; at a festival, fashion week or just roaming the city. Here are just a few of my favourite looks I've come across lately that I love. I find seeing what other trendy people are wearing always influences my personal style and gives me a bit of inspiration for my own wardrobe. Tell me what you think of street style photography, or where you find inspiration for your style?

Arctic Monkeys Concert

Sunday, 11 May 2014

001. On Wednesday night I was fortunate enough to attend an Arctic Monkeys concert and it was incredible! We arrived at the venue at around 4pm, waiting for the outside gates to open at 5.30pm, then running in to line up for the internal doors to the actual arena to open at 7pm. It sounds like a long time but seriously went so quickly (excitement helps with waiting). Originally our tickets were for the second barrier general admission area, however when we walked in there was no barrier, just one huge mosh pit. This is how I ended up in the second row of people, centre stage for the Arctic Monkeys. Yes, I did take this photo and no, this isn't even zoomed in.... I WAS THIS CLOSE TO ALEX TURNER IN THE FLESH! Sorry about the yelling; I'm still in shock that this night even happened.

002. The mosh pit was insane, but totally worth it. The whole show was amazing! Singing majority of songs from their new album AM and a few older ones (my favourites being Fluorescent Adolescent, Brianstorm, Dancing Shoes and I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor), the band performed every song perfectly- seriously they sound the exact same live as they do on their albums, although Alex Turner's voice may be even sexier live (if that is even humanly possible). Without me rambling on too much longer about how much I love the Arctic Monkeys, I'll leave you with this piece of advice: 1. if you don't already listen to their music GO NOW (your ears will thank you for it later) and 2. if you ever have the chance to see them live DO IT (you won't regret it!).

PS. Tell me what you think of their music or if you've ever seen them live!

PPS. Sorry for this weird quality photo; it's from my instagram and looked a lot better on an iPhone screen

Market Finds

Denim Dress: $15// Bag: $5// B&W Tank: $3// Skirt: $2

001. As promised the haul from my market adventures on the weekend! The denim dress was way more than I would usually be willing to spend on something second hand but I thought it would be fun to style and is something a bit different. The bag was also a little expensive for something so tiny, however it's suede and I still had Splendour on my mind (perfect for a festival/gig). For $3 the top was a no brainer- monochrome AND striped. Finally the skirt... definitely a colour I wouldn't often go for but it reminded me of a dress I saw from Minkpink a while ago and I couldn't resist.

002. I'm excited to wear all these new items and show them to y'all in future posts! Hope you're having a splendid week so far- happy hump day!

Bag: Kmart

001. Sorry for not blogging since Monday...  honestly I totally just forgot to post! Last week I was in my local Kmart and picked up this bag for only $15! It's actually quite good quality and in my opinion looks much more expensive than it really was. Kmart actually has some nice bags going at the moment all for about $15-$25, so if you're an Aussie pop down and have a look. I love finding nice pieces in unexpected places.

002. In other news... I GOT SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS TICKETS! I'm going for the whole three days and am so flippin' excited! The lineup is unreal and if you haven't had a peep at it yet, check it out HERE. Sorry for the all the capitalisation and exclamation marks in this posts, I clearly get easily excited over bargain shopping and festivals.
